Mavs Golf Places Seventh at AMCC Championships

Tubbs Finishes T12 in Championship Competition

BUTLER, P.A. – The Medaille College golf team closed out their season at the Butler Country Club after their second day of play in the 2021 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships. The Mavs improved their score on day two by 20 strokes. Medaille finished the tournament in seventh place with a team score of 780.

Penn State Altoona held on to their lead from day one to grab the AMCC championship with a combined score of 645. Penn State Behrend took second place shooting 667.

All Maverick golfers improved their scores from the previous round with Ben Tubbs (Painted Post, NY, Corning-Painted Post) leading the charge. Tubbs shot an 84 on the day to finish with a combined score of 172. Tubbs also climbed the leaderboard and finished tied for 12th place out of 39 golfers.

Zach Barlow (Depew, NY, Depew) shot a 93 and finished with a combined score of 191 followed by Jake Justice (North Tonawanda, NY, North Tonawanda) with a 95 and combined score of 192.

Nick Carmichael (Ontario, NY, Wayne) dropped nine strokes on his second round finishing with a 108. Bryce Smith (College Station, TX, A&M; Consolidated) dropped eight strokes off his previous score and shot a 109.

The future looks bright for the Mavs as they continue to progress at the collegiate level.
