ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Medaille College women's volleyball team lost their first of three games tonight at the University of Rochester Invitational against the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tigers. The Mavericks lost in three sets, 16-25, 15-25, and 13-25.

In the first set, the Mavs started from behind. They managed to keep scoring to limit the lead the Tigers had. Once the Mavs hit ten points, that's when the Tigers started to really pull ahead. The lead was too much to overcome and the Tigers took the set, 25-16.

In the second set, the Mavs grabbed the first point. They kept their lead until their tenth point. The Tigers got on a five-point scoring streak, and that would keep them in the lead until the end. The Mavs went down 15-25.

In the final set of the match, much like the first set, the Mavs were playing from behind. The lead was growing fast, and there were eight errors, the most of all three sets, and the Mavs went down 13-25. The Tigers would win 3-0.

Game leaders for the Mavericks were Halle Bogas (Cleveland, OH, Normandy) with seven kills, Haley Kennedy (Chestermere, AB, Chestermere) with seven digs and 19 assists, and Baylee Romano (North Collins, NY, North Collins) with seven digs, three assists, and one service ace.

The University of Rochester Invitational will continue tomorrow, September 4. The Mavs will play Smith College at 11:00 a.m. and the University of Rochester at 3:00 p.m.
