Mavs Drop Final Two Games in University of Rochester Invitational

Women's Volleyball goes 0-2 Against Smith and U of R

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Medaille College women's volleyball team finished out the rest of their University of Rochester Invitational tournament today. They played the Smith College Pioneers this morning and lost 3-0. They finished up the day playing against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets, where they also lost 3-0.
Game 1
The first few points of the first set against the Pioneers were errors made by the Mavericks. It wasn't until a set error from the Pioneers that gave the Mavs their first point. The Pioneers were dominant in the first set with 14 kills, and forcing six errors. It was a loss for the Mavs, 25-12.

The second set was the best one for the Mavs. They cut the errors in half. It was a fight to come from behind, but couldn't get the lead. The Mavs we down again, 25-19.
In the final set of the match, the Mavs managed to get more kills. They had eight, which was the most of the match. Errors were an issue again, and the Pioneers took the final set, 25-17.

Game leaders for the Mavs were Halle Bogas (Cleveland, OH, Normandy) with six kills, two service aces, and two assists, Chelsea Prescott (Coupeville, WA, Coupeville) with six kills and six digs, Haley Kennedy (Chestermere, AB, Chestermere) with 12 assists, and Adrianna Parsons (East St. Paul, MB, Miles Macdonell Collegiate) with nine digs and one service ace.

Game 2
After a tough start to the day against Smith College, the Mavericks were ready to start over. The Mavs got behind early in the first set. They could not get into a big scoring rally. With only six kills, it wouldn't be enough, and the Yellowjackets took the first one, 25-15.

The second set was similar to the first. The Mavs continued to play from behind. They managed to limit the errors, but the 15 kills from the Yellowjackets were too much. The Mavs went down 25-15.

In the final set of the tournament for the Mavs, they managed to get one more point than they did in the other two of the match. It was the first time they started with the lead. They kept it with four points, until a big rally to get the Yellowjackets to a 10-4 lead. It was playing catch-up from there. The Mavs dropped their last one of the day 25-16.

Game leaders for the Mavs were Bogas with seven kills, Parsons with four kills and 11 digs, and Kennedy with 14 assists.

The Mavs will try for their first win of the season on Tuesday, September 6. It will be their first home game, where they face off against Wells College at 7:00 p.m.
