BUFFALO N.Y. – The Medaille women's volleyball team dropped their match against the Buffalo State Bengals in three straight sets 15-25, 13-25, and 16-25.
The Bengals jumped out to an early lead in the first and second set to get the edge on the Mavericks. In the first two sets, the Buffalo State offense kept the pressure on to increase their lead.
In the third set, the Mavs started out much stronger on offense with early kills from
Haley Kennedy (Chestermere, AB, Chestermere) and
Chase Luebeck (Troy, IL, Triad). The burst of scoring combined with early hitting errors from the Bengals gave Medaille the lead until the middle of the set. Buffalo State ended up finding their rhythm late in the set to take the match.
Luebeck led all hitters with seven kills and two blocks while
Olivia Anderson (Mayville, NY, Chautauqua Lake) chipped in five kills and a team-high eight digs. Kennedy led all servers with three aces while adding seven digs and 19 assists.
Madison Kaczmarek (Akron, NY, Akron) got in on the action with five kills and two blocks.
The next match for the Mavs will be at Wells College on September 25
th at 1:00 p.m.
