ALTOONA, P.A. – The Medaille College women's volleyball team hit the road for their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match against Penn State Altoona. The Mavs lost a hard fought battle in three straight sets 9-25, 19-25, and 23-25.

The Lions jumped to an early lead coming from their strong performance at the net where Altoona attackers recorded 15 kills on 27 swings with only three errors. The Mavs were unable to gain any momentum and lost set one, 9-25.

In the second set, the Mavs found their rhythm with early kills from Halle Bogas (Cleveland, OH, Normandy), Chelsea Prescott (Coupeville, WA, Coupeville), and Chase Luebeck (Troy, IL, Triad) to keep the score close. Medaille fought hard through the set with Altoona leading 11-9 before giving up a 6-2 point swing in favor of the Lions. Penn State Altoona took set two 25-19 but the Mavs were on the rise.

Bogas shined in the third set with an impressive nine kills including three in a row to help tip the scales in Medaille's favor. The Mavs held a 20-19 point lead late in the set but Altoona responded with a five-point run to jump in front 24-20. The Lions held strong to defeat the Mavs 25-23.

Bogas led the offense hitting .423 with 14 of the team's 25 kills while adding six digs. Haley Kennedy (Chestermere, AB, Chestermere) (Coupeville, WA, Coupeville) put up 26 assists and Prescott added a team-high seven digs.

The women's volleyball team will return to action at home on October 6 to take on the Hilbert Hawks at 7:00 p.m.
