Smith Has Perfect Day Against Bobcats

Men's Basketball Wins Three in a Row in AMCC Play

GREENSBURG, P.A. – The Medaille College men's basketball team got their third win in a row tonight against AMCC opponent, the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats. The Mavericks won 93-67.

The game started with quick points from the Bobcats right from the jump ball. Jorarei Bile (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill) answered back with his own layup, and Bryce Smith (College Station, TX, A&M; Consolidated) added a three to take their first lead. The Bobcats took the lead back for the second lead change of the night at 16:58 off of a three. Smith added his second three of the night at 15:34 for another Mavs' lead. They started to build it from there. One minute and a half later, Kendall McGill (Largo, MD, Largo) made a jumper to extend their lead by nine points. Rodney Graves (Woodbridge, VA, Colgan) made two free throws to make it an 18-point game. With under two minutes left, Trevor Young (Buffalo, NY, Frederick Law Olmsted) helped add to their biggest lead of the half, 49-27. The Bobcats managed to put some more points on the board to finish the half. The Mavericks were leading 51-34.

Bile started it off again for the Mavs once the second half started. This time, the Bobcats were answering back. The Mavericks were still scoring consistently. They kept their large lead. At 7:51, Travis Sanders (Cleveland, OH, Euclid) made a layup to put them up by 25 points. Dante Moultrie (Buffalo, NY, North Tonawanda) and Young added two more points each to hit 28. The offensive performance was becoming too much for the Bobcats. The Mavs stayed steady and finished the game 93-67 for a convincing win.

The Mavericks shot an impressive 36-63 earning them a 57.1 shooting percentage on the night. 10 of those shots were threes, making their three-point shooting a 43.5 percent. Smith was the leading scorer of the night scoring 18 points shooting a perfect 6-6, five of them from behind the arc. Bile scored 15 points going 7-8, Graves scored 14 going 4-8 with four rebounds, two assists, and three steals, Jorge Latapia (Zaragoza, Spain, Colegio Aleman Zaragoza) was the leader in rebounds with six while also scoring four points with one block.

The Mavs will return home on Wednesday, January 26 for another AMCC matchup. They will face Hilbert for a 7:30 p.m. start.
