COLONIE, N.Y. – The Medaille College field hockey team dropped their second game this week to the Russell Sage College Gators. The Mavericks lost 2-0.
Most of the excitement of the game happened in the first quarter. It started with a penalty corner on the Mav's end. The ball stayed in their territory until six and half minutes into the quarter. After two saves from Kristyn Clare (Rochester, NY, East Irondequoit), the Gators found a hole and put the first point of the game on the board.
The Gators immediately made their way back down to Mav territory, and six minutes later would score their second goal of the game. It wasn't until the second quarter that the Mavs made their way into the circle. They could only get six shots off the entire game. Those opportunities were not enough, and the Mavs lost 2-0.
Game leaders for the Mavericks were Morgan Kramer (Sanborn, NY, Starpoint) with two shots, one on goal, Kylie Tolsma (Buffalo, NY, Sweet Home) with two shots, one on goal, and goal keeper Clare with 14 saves.
The Mavs will take a week break to recover and get back to it on Saturday, September 11. They will host their first home game of the season against Earlham College at 1:00 p.m.
