BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Medaille Men's Soccer team lost a hard fought battle against the Fredonia Blue Devils 3-4.
The Mavs started the game strong on both ends of the pitch with three goals in the first half while holding the Blue Devils to zero.
Ander Castillo (Bilbao, Spain, Mater Dei Catholic) scored the first goal that came off a rebounded save shot by
Rodrigo Fernandez (Zaragoza, Spain). Fernandez was able to follow up his own rebounded shot for goal number two. For the third goal, Castillo beat two defenders and the goalie to put the Mavs up 3-0.
Blue Devils' offensive players dominated the second half early on where they scored three goals in the first fifteen minutes. With the score tied, it was a tough battle back and forth until a Fredonia corner kick resulted in the game-winning goal.
The Mavs will take on Pitt Greesnburg at home for their first conference game on September 18
th at 4:15 p.m.
