Men's Soccer Grabs Third Conference Win Over Hilbert

Mavs Win in a Convincing 11-0 Shutout

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Medaille College men's soccer team grabbed their third conference win tonight against the Hilbert College Hawks. The Mavs won by a very convincing 11-0.

The Mavs started off on a super strong note scoring their first goal of the night only 41 seconds into the game. Pablo De Ramon Boceta (Treas-Cantos, Spain, Pinosierra) scored his first of the season with an assist from Rudi Thompson (London, England, Royal Russell). They kept the pressure on taking multiple shots and drawing two corners. Thompson found the back of the net off of the second corner with an assist from Jack Napier (Mid Calder, Scotland, West Calder). They continued to keep the ball in Hawk territory. 18:50 into the game, Napier took his turn, and scored the third of the night. Marc Whyte (Swindon, England, St. Josephs Catholic College) was the assist. After committing a foul, James Salvatore (Sutton, MA, Sutton) scored the fourth goal of the game after Charlie Stewart (Aberdeen, Scotland, Harlaw Academy) won it back for the assist. Under a minute later, Whyte wasted no time and found the back of the net for the fifth goal. The final goal of the half was from Stewart. Taylor Chauhud (Sydney, Australia, Mater Maria Catholic) was credited with the assist.

It was a slower start after the half for the Mavs. The seventh goal of the game came from Napier 20 minutes in. Celso Juberias (Zaragoza, Spain, Liceo Europa ) is credited with the assist. At 70:32, Joey Zachary (Lewistown, NY, Lewistown Porter) joined the party and netted the eight goal from Napier. Four minutes later, Napier struck again, from Juberias. Zachary was looking to catch Napier and scored his second of the game at 77:24. Salvatore was the assist. The final goal of the evening was from Salvatore with under a minute in regulation play.

Game leaders for the Mavericks were Napier with three goals and two assists, Salvatore with two goals and one assist, Zachary with two goals, and goalkeeper Dante Gesamondo (Lynnfield, MA, Lynnfield) with one save on one shot on goal.

The Mavs look to get their fourth conference win this weekend against La Roche University. They will travel on Saturday, October 9 for a start time of 4:15 p.m.
