Strickland Shines in Day Two of Penguin Classic

Mavs Go 2-3 in Day Two of Tournament

STRUTHERS, O.H. – The Medaille College bowling team grabbed two wins and three losses in their second day of competition at the MOTIV Penguin Classic. The matches were scored based on the traditional format.

The Mavs started the day off strong with a 927-898 win over Mercyhurst University. Sarah Radt (Orchard Park, NY, Orchard Park) and Taylor Strickland (Roslin, ON, Centre Hastings Secondary School) both rolled a 190 while Brianna Thurston (Sun Prairie, WI, Sun Prairie) and Mackenzie Smith (Burlington, ON, Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School) followed closely behind with a 189.

Arkansas State took the second match 973-836 despite a solid 187 from Smith. Radt continued to impress with a 203 against Youngstown State but the Penguins took the third match 964-798.

In the fourth match, the Mavericks grabbed their second win of the day against Mercyhurst 915-854. Strickland led the way with a 214 while Thurston rolled her best of the day with a 210.

Strickland saved her best performance for last with a 235 against Morgan State, but the Mavs fell short 897-918.

Radt continued to lead all Medaille bowlers with a 926 followed by Thurston with 895 and Smith with 864. Strickland bowled very well with a 783 in four matches. Medaille moves to 4-6 on the season and are currently sitting in ninth place in the tournament.

The Mavs will conclude the Penguin Classic tournament on Sunday, October 17.
