ERIE, P.A. - The Medaille College men's tennis team traveled to Pennsylvania for the AMCC Tournament Semifinals held at the Westwood Racquet Club. The Mavericks battled with the Lions to the end but came up short losing 3-5.

The Lions defeated the Cavs in the #2 and #3 singles but Ander Castillo (Bilbao, Spain, Mater Dei Catholic) edged out a win (4-6, 6-0, 10-0) at the #4 singles position. Ben Tubbs (Painted Post, NY, Corning-Painted Post) also secured a singles win at the #5 spot winning 6-4 and 6-3. Celso Juberias (Zaragoza, Spain, Liceo Europa ) fought valiantly in the #6 singles position winning the first set 6-3 before dropping set two 5-7 and the tie breaker 9-11.

The duo of Jason McCarthy (Cheektowaga, NY, Maryvale) and Pablo De Ramon Boceta (Treas-Cantos, Spain, Pinosierra) lost a close #1 doubles match and Behrend also picked up an 8-1 win at #2 doubles. Tubbs and Juberias won at #3 doubles 8-1, but Behrend took the match on overall points 5-3.

The Mavericks had a strong season and will look to continue to build on their team for next season.
