BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Medaille College men's tennis team kicked off their 2022 with a win over Mount Aloysius. The Mavericks won 6-3.

Ander Castillo (Bilbao, Spain, Mater Dei Catholic), Celso Juberias (Zaragoza, Spain, Liceo Europa ) and Ben Tubbs (Painted Post, NY, Corning-Painted Post) all won their singles matches along with Josh Wolski (Amherst, NY, Amherst) who won his by default. Castillo won in an exciting 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 comeback. Juberias won 6-0, 6-0, and Tubbs won 6-0, 6-2. Despite his loss in his singles match, Rodrigo Fernandez (Zaragoza, Spain) played tough against his Mountie opponent.

Fernandez and Castillo started the doubles matches with a loss 4-8. Akar Kyaw (Buffalo, NY, McKinley) and Juberias came in clutch with a huge win 8-3 to secure the win over the Mounties. Tubbs and Wolski won their doubles match by default.

Overall, this was an incredible performance to the end to start off the season. The Mavericks will travel to Nazareth College for their next match. They will play on Tuesday, March 5 for a 4:00 p.m. start.
