Mavericks Defeat Panthers on Day One of AMCC Championships

Women's Bowling Advances in Winner's Bracket

BRADFORD, P.A. – The Medaille College women's bowling team kicked off the first day of the AMCC Championship tournament today. The Mavericks were the #2 seed going into the tournament and defeated Pitt-Bradford to advance in the winner's bracket.

In the first match, the Mavs defeated Pitt-Bradford 945-825 in the team format with Sarah Radt (Orchard Park, NY, Orchard Park) rolling a team-high 209. Brianna Thurston (Sun Prairie, WI, Sun Prairie) followed closely behind with a 198 and Paige Herndon (Toano, VA, Warhill) rolled a 189 in the win.

The Mavs continued to keep the momentum rolling by taking a 931-747 victory in the five-game Baker series. Kendyll Jaskier (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca East) led the Mavs knocking down 206 pins with the team-best Baker frame average of 22.88. Taylor Strickland (Roslin, ON, Centre Hastings Secondary School) also had a strong performance in the Baker match with a 183 and a 20.33 average.

The competition will continue tomorrow morning at 9:30am with the Mavericks facing Saint Vincent in the winner's bracket.
