Mavs Compete in Day Two of AMCC-Empire Championships

Women's Swimming Ranked 10th After Second Day

WEBSTER, N.Y. - The Medaille College men's and women's swimming team opened the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships on Thursday evening at the Webster Aquatic Center. The women's team finished the day ranked 10th with two points.

In the preliminary session, we had six total swims. Of those six we had five personal best times (lifetime) and one season best (just this year). Ethan Heim (Lockport, NY, Lockport) was in the 200 IM and finished in 24th place with a time of 2:14.82 (season best). Jahnai Carr (Tobyhanna, PA, Pocono Mountain West) was in the 50 Free and finished in 37th with a time of 26.37 (personal best). Daniel O'Brien (Hamburg, NY, Hamburg) swam in the 50 free and finished in 35th with a time of 25.78 (personal best).

Kadynce Brown (Rock Springs, WY, Rock Springs) swam in the 50 free and finished in 26th place with a time of 33.11 (personal best). Emily Duda (Holland Patent, NY, Holland Patent) swam in the 50 free and finished in 24th place with a time of 32.59 (personal best). Ashton Laird (Medina, NY, Medina) had the highlight swim of the day in the 50 free, she finished in 19th place with a time of 30.22 (personal best) earning her a spot in the conciliation final in the evening. For her swim in the final she finished in 19th place with a time of 29.91, another personal best.

Currently, Nazareth College holds the number one spot followed by Alfred State. For the men, Alfred State is leading in the team rankings followed by Nazareth College.

Both men's and women's swimming teams will return to action tomorrow, Friday, February 18, for day three. Preliminaries begin at 10:00 a.m., with the finals set for 5:00 p.m.
