ALFRED, N.Y. — The Medaille College cross country teams competed in the Gary Moore Invitational on Saturday at Alfred State College. The men finished in third place overall in their event, while Buffalo State came in first and Alfred State took second. The women did not post a team score with only four runners, but had great performances in their event.
The Medaille women's team was represented by
Erin Hardick (Amherst, NY, Sacred Heart Academy),
Katherine Bobowicz (Clarence, NY, Sacred Heart Academy),
Andrea Krug (Kenmore, NY, Kenmore West), and
Haleigh Renaud (Allegany, NY, Allegany-Limestone). Hardick was the top finisher for the squad after finishing the 6k in 29:39, which was good for fourth place overall. Bobowicz crossed the finish line only a couple minutes later, taking seventh in the event (31:05). Krug was 27
th on the day with a time of 42:49 and Renaud was 30
th (48:31).
The Medaille men's team was represented by
Nicholas Cicero (Williamsville, NY, Williamsville South),
Joshua Wolski (Amherst, NY, Amherst),
Ga'Vintay McGhee (Lumberton, NC, Leesville Road),
Na'Sair Merced-Bentley (Buffalo, NY, F.L. Olmsted ), and Quinton Jordan. Cicero (33:34) and Wolski (34:14) were the first finishers for the Mavericks with a seventh and eighth place finish in the 8k, respectively. McGhee took 17
th (40:28), Merced-Bentley 23
rd (42:17), and Jordan 28
th (50:55) to round out the invite with a third-place finish.
The Mavs return to action on Saturday, September 25 at the Harry F. Anderson Invite hosted by the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks. The event is slated for a 10 a.m. start time.
