LATROBE, PA – The Medaille College Men's Volleyball team returned to action this afternoon as they traveled to Latrobe, PA to take on the Saint Vincent College Bearcats in an AMCC Saturday afternoon matinee.
The Mavericks jumped out to an early lead, easily taking the first set (25-13). The second frame was a much more competitive set with Medaille pulling out the marathon matchup (35-33). Medaille then sealed the victory by taking the third set (25-23).
Malachi Jackson had (11) kills in the win
The Mavs outhit the Bearcats (.226) to (.200) in the match. Chris Pauline Jr. (North Tonawanda, NY, North Tonawanda) and Malachi Jackson (Cheektowaga, NY, Cheektowaga) led the Mavs with (11) kills each.Matt Dickerson (Lockport, NY, Starpoint) chipped in with (9). Jake Siwy (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca West) had (36) assists and Kevin Cashdollar (Clarence, NY, Clarence HS) led the way with (13) digs.
The Bearcats were led by Matthew Minkin who had a game-high (15) kills. He also had a team best (9) digs. Matt Furrer has (29) assists.
The win snaps a three-game losing streak and improves Medaille to (2-3; 1-1 AMCC) on the young season. Saint Vincent falls to (0-4; 0-3 AMCC) on the year.
Medaille returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Erie, PA to take on Penn St.-Behrend in another AMCC matchup. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
