BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Medaille College women's bowling team returned to play on Sunday for day two of the Medaille Brunswick Invitational. The Mavs finished second as the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks took first place.
The Mavericks were slow to start the day as they dropped their match against Walsh University 797-835. However, that would be the lowest score from the Mavs for the rest of the day as they quickly found momentum against Daemen College in their second match.
The Mavs put up an impressive 1038 total pinfall to take down the Wildcats with their score of 952. Medaille followed up that performance with another win over D'Youville College. The Mavs defeated the Saints 981-849 to finish with a 6-2 record and the first seed going into bracket play.
Medaille played D'Youville in the first round. The match was close, but the Mavs edged out a 962-939 win to move onto the championship game against Roberts Wesleyan College. The Mavs battled every frame against the Redhawks. The match came down to the 10
th frame where the Redhawks took the close win with a total pinfall of 967 to Medaille's 960.
Kendyll Jaskier (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca East) and
Sarah Radt (Orchard Park, NY, Orchard Park) were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their strong individual performances on the weekend. Jaskier had another strong showing on day two with a 1084 total pinfall good for a 22.58 average.
Brianna Thurston (Sun Prairie, WI, Sun Prairie) added a total pinfall of 988 averaging 20.58 while
Paige Herndon (Toano, VA, Warhill) finished with 802 fallen pins and a 19.56 average.
The Mavs will face Penn State Behrend for their next contest on Tuesday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m.
