Cross Country Races in 40th Annual Mike Woods Invitational

Men Place 32nd in Event

GENESEO, N.Y. — The Medaille cross country teams were back in action on Saturday, participating in the 40th Annual Mike Woods Invitational hosted by the SUNY Geneseo Knights. The men's cross country team secured 32nd place for the Mavericks, while the women competed as individuals in one of the largest meets of the year.

In the women's 6k race, the host Knights took first place overall with Case Western and Middlebury coming in second and third place, respectively. Erin Hardick (Amherst, NY, Sacred Heart Academy) was the top finisher for the Mavericks after crossing the finish line with a time of 27:10. Katherine Bobowicz (Clarence, NY, Sacred Heart Academy) completed the race next for the Mavs (27:32), followed by Haleigh Renaud (Allegany, NY, Allegany-Limestone) who crossed the finish line at 42:33.

In the men's 8k race, the Knights took first overall while Middlebury finished in second place. Otterbein finished the meet in third place. Nicholas Cicero (Williamsville, NY, Williamsville South) paced the Mavericks with a 180th place finish and a time of 30:00. Joshua Wolski (Amherst, NY, Amherst) placed 195th in the race at 31:06 while Ga'Vintay McGhee (Lumberton, NC, Leesville Road) came in next for the Mavs at 34:28. Dialo Rivera-Stevens (Buffalo, NY, Riverside) (36:22), Rudy's Isaac (Buffalo, NY, Hutch-Tech) (43:40), and Quinton Jordan (Olean, NY, Olean) (44:55) rounded out the race for the men.

The Mavericks look to top their times next Saturday, October 9 when they travel to Hilbert to compete in the 13th Annual Meghan Memorial race.
