KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Medaille College field hockey team found the scoresheet twice on Monday night, but could not take down the Keuka College Wolves. The Mavericks dropped their road contest by a score of 7-2.
Keuka got started early, cranking a shot off the post just minutes into the game. It didn't take long for the Wolves to find the back of the net, scoring two goals in the first quarter to give themselves a 2-0 lead.
Medaille fired back in the second quarter and was rewarded with a penalty corner three minutes in.
Emma Perry (East Bridgewater, MA, East Bridgewater) scored her first goal of the season, assisted by
Morgan Kramer (Sanborn, NY, Starpoint) to cut the Keuka lead in half. That didn't sit right with the Wolves who answered back with three more goals of their own. Keuka took a 5-1 lead into halftime.
The third quarter featured another Mavericks goal, this time by
Kylie Tolsma (Buffalo, NY, Sweet Home) who scored her second of the season on a penalty stroke to make it 5-2. The Wolves had an answer once again with two more goals to end the quarter.
A very defensive final quarter resulted in no more goals for either team.
The Mavericks return home on Sunday, October 24 to play the Elmira Soaring Eagles at 1 p.m.
