GENEVA, N.Y. — The Medaille College cross country teams competed in the Cross Country Only Conference Championships at Seneca Lake State Park on Saturday afternoon. Although the conditions were wet and muddy, the Mavericks persevered to take home sixth place in the men's 8k race and an eighth place finish in the women's 6k.
Clarkson took home first place in the men's competition with Hobart taking second and Morrisville State taking third.
Nicholas Cicero (Williamsville, NY, Williamsville South) paced the Mavericks with an 18
th place finish, covering the course in 30:01.
Joshua Wolski (Amherst, NY, Amherst) (32:02) crossed the finish line in 32
nd place, while
Na'Sair Merced-Bentley (Buffalo, NY, F.L. Olmsted ) (34:58) and
Ga'Vintay McGhee (Lumberton, NC, Leesville Road) (35:21) came in close together in 51
st and 53
rd, respectively.
Quinton Jordan (Olean, NY, Olean) completed the 8k in 43:06.
In the women's race, Clarkson took home another team title, followed by William Smith in second and Keuka in third.
Erin Hardick (Amherst, NY, Sacred Heart Academy) continued to lead by example for the Mavericks, completing the 6k in 27:20 and securing a 17
th place finish.
Katherine Bobowicz (Clarence, NY, Sacred Heart Academy) finished only a minute and a half later (28:11), which was good for 24
thplace.
Kaitlyn Lisiecki (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca East) (36:24),
Andrea Krug (Kenmore, NY, Kenmore West) (37:16), and
Haleigh Renaud (Allegany, NY, Allegany-Limestone) (43:27) also scored for the Mavs.
The Mavs will take the next two weeks to prepare for the AMCC Championships to be held on Saturday, October 30.
