Dan Opera is entering his sixth season as Head Coach of the Medaille Softball team, and eighth since joining the staff in 2014-15.
Since taking over in 2017, the Mavericks have enjoyed arguably their greatest three-year run in program history with Opera as the bench boss. Medaille has compiled a 58-50 record overall and 32-22 record in AMCC play. in 2017 and 2018 Medaille entered the AMCC postseason as the number two seed after failing to qualify for the AMCC Tournament from 2011-2016.
The 2018 season was particularly successful, for Opera was able to help sophomore Laura Kratzke become just the fourth player in school history to be named the AMCC Softball Player of the Year, while also being named to the FPN NCAA DIII All-American Team.
In 2021, Opera led the Mavs back to the playoffs after closing out the regular season on a four game win-streak to punch their ticket to the postseason.
Prior to joining the staff at Medaille, Opera had coached over ten years in the NY Diamond Girls organization where he put together an impressive 347-111 record in showcase tournaments acrosse the Eastern United States. Eighteen of the girls he coached during that time went on to play collegiately across all three divisions of the NCAA.
Coach Opera has three children: Alle, Breanna, and Ginalese and currently resides in Lancaster, NY.
