Emily Woods joined the Maverick program for its inaugural season, and enters her second year as assistant coach in 2022. A local standout in her own right, Woods brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to Medaille Athletics.
Woods began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, SUNY Cortland, in 2015, subsequently moving on to high school positions for the next five seasons.
Prior to beginning her coaching career, Woods was an outstanding collegiate student-athlete. She signed with Division I Lock Haven and went on to play 24 games for the Bald Eagles in 2011 and 2012.
Transferring to Division III SUNY Cortland for her junior and senior seasons, Woods started 31 of 32 games in her time with the Red Dragons, registering 8 goals and 18 points.
Woods was named to the NFHCA Division III All-Region Second Team in 2014, and was an All-SUNYAC First Team selection in 2013 and 2014. To close out her college career, she earned an invitation to the 2014 North-South Senior Game.
A 2011 graduate of Williamsville North High school, Woods captained the Spartans to the 2010 Class A State Championship in her season while being selected NFHCA High School All-Region. Woods was a two-time NYSPHSAA All State and Section VI All-WNY selection in 2009 and 2010, as well as a member of the 2007 Williamsville North State Championship team.

Woods graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, and went on to earn her master's degree in Physical Education and Teacher Education from West Virginia University in 2019, where she was WVU PETE Grad Student of the Year.
Woods is a USA Field Hockey Level 1 certified coach and USA Field Hockey Nexus/Futures instructor. She has also been a member of the WNY Field Hockey Club coaching staff since 2016.
She resides in Williamsville with her Puggle, Pacer.
