Chris Willingham led Medaille with (21) points.

BRADFORD, PA – The Medaille College Men's Basketball Team returned to action this evening, traveling down Rt-219 to take on Pitt-Bradford in an AMCC playoff matchup with plenty of playoff implications.

UPB (9-14, 8-8 AMCC) came into the game, one game behind Medaille (11-12, 9-7 AMCC). With a win, Pitt-Bradford could tie Medaille in the standings with an opportunity to pass them during the season finale. Medaille could potentially move up to the #4 seed with two wins in their final games.

The Panthers were able to come from behind in the second half and pull out the victory on their home court (85-78).

Medaille took a (41-38) lead into the half, with Mike Hollenbeck (Ontario, NY, Wayne Central) leading the way for the Mavericks with (12) first half points. Chris Willingham (Nashville, TN, East Literature) chipped in with (10) points and two assists in the first half.

UPB's Evan Greening led all scorers at the half with (15) points, going (7-11) from the field.

The Panthers opened up the second half on a (8-0) run to take the lead and they would not relinquish the lead the entire half, fighting off each charge the Mavericks would put up. Medaille briefly tied the game up (59-59) and (61-61) about midway through the half, but it was all Panthers from then on.

UPB built the lead to as many twelve points (78-66) with just over two minutes remaining.

Greening led all scorers with (31) points, going (15-21) from the field. He also had a game high (19) rebounds.

The Panthers also got (25) points from Eric Matheson and (16) from Manny Welch.

Medaille was led by Willingham who finished with (21) points. Willingham did most of his scoring from the outside as he was (5-8) from three-point range.

Three other Mavs finished in double figures: Hollenbeck (19), Johnathan Belton (Amherst, NY, Amherst) (13) and Miles Newcomb (Oklahoma City, OK, Bishop McGuiness) (12).

Rebounding was a huge factor in the game as UPB owned the glass, out-rebounding the Mavs (47-28), which led to a (14-2) edge in second chance points.

The win improves UPB to (10-14, 9-8 AMCC), Medaille falls to (11-13, 9-8 AMCC) and they both have the same record with one game left at hand. With a win in Medaille's finale, they would clinch the #5 seed as they currently hold the tie breaker over UPB, based on how they did against the teams in the conference in descending order from the top of the standings.

Medaille returns to action this Saturday when they travel to La Roche College for their AMCC regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm. Live Stats and Video will be available.
