GREENSBURG, PA - The Medaille College men's basketball team closed out the regular season with its sixth straight win in a (86-81) defeat of the Pitt-Greensburg Bocats on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavs started the game off slow and found themselves in a hole early before pulling the game within 10 points by the end of the first half. In order to have a shot at the number two seed in the AMCC playoffs, the Mavs needed to pull this game out.
The second half they came out with intense pressure defensively and a strong offensive showing to pull them back into the game early. They hit on 65.4% (17 of 26) from the field including 41.7% (5 of 12) from behind the three point line in route to a 55-point second half.
Medaille would battle and eventually tie the game at 66 with just over six minutes left in the game. The teams would battle back and forth with Medaille slowly pulling ahead in the final few minutes. Free throws by
Jammal Coleman and Chris Willinham sealed the victory.
Leading the Mavs offensively was Coleman who finished the game with (23) points and (6) rebounds while
Robby Seyler finished with (18) points and (4) rebounds. Willingham closed the game with (13) points while
Cooper Calzonetti totaled (10) points in the victory.
The Mavs (14-11, 13-5) finished the regular season as the number two seed and will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Their next game is TBD.
