Nomination Form

Purpose
The purpose of the Medaille Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, teams and other individuals who have been associated with Medaille College Athletics for outstanding contributions to Medaille College during athletics competition, as well as in the Medaille community.

Selection Committee
The Medaille Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee shall be comprised of the following:
  • Director of Athletics
  • Sports Information Director
  • Assistant Sports Information Director
  • Three (2) additional Full Time Athletic Coaches/Administrators (4 year term; to be selected by Director of Athletics)
  • One (1) representative from Alumni Relations Office
  • One (1) representative from Marketing Office
  • One (1) at large community member to be chosen by Athletic Director.
  • Two (2) alumnus/alumna (4 year term)

The selection committee for the inaugural 2018 class will be Amy DeKay, Josh Sova, James Witherow, Laura Edholm, Mike Blaine, Nick Koziol, Melissa Harris, Richard Herdline, Doug Page ('12), and Travis Chavanne ('16).

Josh Sova and James Witherow will be co-chairing the committee.



Criteria for Selection
Student-Athlete
  • Student-athlete must be an alumnus/alumna, or have left Medaille College in good standing.
  • Student-athlete shall be eligible five (5) years after he/she has graduated or left Medaille.
  • Student-athlete must have attended Medaille College for at least two academic years (4 semesters).
  • Student-athlete must have been considered a superior athlete when compared to recognized norms in his/her sport.
  • Student-athlete must have represented Medaille Athletics in a positive fashion.

Coach/Administrator
  • Coach/Administrator must have served in their role for at least four (4) seasons/academic years.
  • Coach/Administrator shall be eligible four (4) years after completion of their duties.
    • May still be employed by college in a different capacity.
  • Coach/Administrator must be of good character and reputation.
  • Coach must have demonstrated a high degree of success relative to coaches of the same sport.
  • Administrator must have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Medaille Athletic department over an extended period of time.


Teams
  • Team must be a specific sport for a specific year (I.e. 2010 Men’s Soccer, 2010-11 Women’s Basketball).
  • Team shall be eligible five (5) years after completion of season.
  • Team must have had an excellent season in terms of win/loss record and/or post-season accomplishments.
  • Team members consist of players, coaching staff, and managers.
    • Players are considered those who were on team at time of final regular season competition, including those who competed but were unable to finish due to injury.
    • Team members are not individual members of the Hall of Fame as a result of this selection.

Contributor
  • Contributor must have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Medaille Athletic department over an extended period of time.
  • Contributor must be of good character and reputation.

Nominations
Nominations may be submitted by anyone with direct knowledge of the accomplishments and achievements of potential nominees online at Medaillesports.com, or in writing to the Medaille College Athletics Sports Information Department. Nominations must include evidence qualifying the person/team for the honor. Individuals may not nominate themselves. Nominations will be accepted year round.

Selection Process
The Medaille Athletic Hall of Fame committee shall meet annually, in May after all qualified nominees have been researched and all information has been distributed to the members of the committee. The committee will have all nominee information in advance of the selection meeting date. Attendance for all committee members is mandatory for the selection meeting. Annual selection shall not exceed four individuals with the selection committee able to use any voting or elimination process it deems appropriate. Announcement of honorees shall be announced no later than August 1. Should no one meet the criteria, the committee may decide to not hold an induction ceremony.

Induction
Medaille Athletic Hall of Fame induction shall take place at a time to optimize attendance by inductees and the Medaille College community.


Amendments
Amendments to these bylaws may be proposed by any member of the selection committee and will be effective upon a two-thirds vote.
