Junior David Groves had (2) goals and (3) assists on Saturday.
AURORA, NY – The Medaille Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Aurora, New York on Saturday afternoon to take on the Express of Wells College for their final away game of the season. With both teams looking for their first NEAC win of the season, it was the Express at home that earned those honors, defeating the Mavericks (13-6).

After ending the first quarter down (3-0), the Maverick offense came alive with three goals in the second quarter. Junior David Groves scored the first two for the blue and gold, with freshman Adam Spider and junior Seth Gregg each picking up one assist.

Groves then got an assist of his own with a great feed to freshman Adam Brennan to cut the Express lead to four heading into halftime.

After a quiet third quarter, the Mavs broke through and made it a three goal game when freshman Alexander Brennan converted off a pass from Groves for his (5) goal of the season. Medaille made it three in a row just (:26) seconds into the fourth when sophomore Lavonte Lee cut it to (7-5).

However, Wells' offense awoke in the final quarter scoring six of the final seven goals to earn their first conference win of the season (13-6).

Freshman Adam Brennan scored two goals on the afternoon, and Groves earned five points (2+3) as Medaille fell to (0-10) overall and (0-7) in the NEAC. Junior Seth Gregg made (7) saves and added (1) assist in net.

The Mavs will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Alfred State at D'Youville College for their final non-conference game of 2016. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
