BUFFALO, NY – The Medaille Men's Lacrosse team hosted cross-town rival Hilbert College at All High Stadium on Wednesday night in NEAC action under the lights. It was the final night game of the season for the Mavericks, as they fell to the Hawks (17-2).
Freshman
Adam Brennen (Buffalo, NY, South Park) scored his third goal of the season in the final minutes of the first quarter off a feed from
Jake Rush (Hamburg, NY, Frontier), and sophomore Lavonte Lee netted his second of the season with just over two minutes to go as Medaille fell to (0-9) overall on the season.
Medaille kept pace with Hilbert in terms of total shots, with Hilbert coming away with just a slight (30-26) edge. However, the big takeaway was in the shots on goal totals, as well as ground ball totals. Out of the (3) shots Hilbert took, (28) were on goal; in comparison just (13) of the (26) Medaille shots landed on net.
Senior
Brandon Wroblewski (Cheektowaga, NY, Cleveland Hill) and junior
Connor Meier (Akron, NY, Akron) led the Mavericks defensively, combining to cause six turnovers and scoop up (10) ground balls.
Seth Gregg (Newfane, NY, Newfane High School) and
David Groves (St. Albans, England, Verulam School) combined for a total of (11) saves, as the Mavs fell to (0-6) in NEAC play. They will be back in action this Saturday, when they make their final road trip of the season to Aurora, New York to take on the Express of Wells College.
