BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Medaille University field hockey team returns for the program's second year competing in the NCAA. Head coach Joan Johnson is prepared for the transition to the high-powered Empire 8 Conference for the 2022 season.

"We look forward to this being our first full season with a full schedule of games in the Empire 8 and a full roster," stated Johnson. "The coaching staff has been working very hard during this recruiting season and are bringing in lots of local talent as well as the program's first international player. The team is excited to play its inaugural game on the new field hockey pitch at the Medaille Sports Complex and looks to establish new, winning ways for the program."

The Mavericks will be tested right out of the gate with a road game against Cornell University on August 26. The Mavs head back to Buffalo for their home opener on September 2 against Oswego State. Two days later, the Mavericks will remain at home for a game against Transylvania University.

On September 8, Medaille will travel east to Morrisville State College before heading southwest to face Oberlin College on September 10. The Mavericks return home for three home games starting with Washington and Jefferson College on September 13.

The season's first conference game will be a Maverick home contest against Elmira College on September 17. The Empire 8 action resumes on September 24 as the Russell Sage Gators travel to the Medaille Sports Complex.

The Mavericks will have a long stretch of road games that begin with a trip to SUNY Geneseo on September 28. Medaille will then travel to St. John Fisher University two days later before heading to SUNY Brockport on October 12 and Keuka College on October 15.

The Mavs have a small travel break on October 18 when Nazareth College comes to town. As the season winds down, Medaille will have a pair of conference road games against Utica University on October 22, and Houghton College on October 26. The final regular season game will take place at home when Hartwick College comes to Buffalo.

Empire 8 conference tournament play begins the first week of November with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
