ST. MARY'S CITY, M.D. – The Medaille College women's lacrosse team are moving on to the United East Conference Championship Game after defeating the Lancaster Bible Chargers 19-7.

The Mavericks came to play with Cameron Briggs (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca East) scoring the first goal assisted by Sara Geiser (West Seneca, NY, Mount Mercy Academy) less than a minute into play. Briggs came down to score again from a caused turnover by Erin Hardick (Buffalo, NY, Sacred Heart). The Chargers responded with a goal soon after, and tied the game at two with 10:08 left in the quarter. Briggs charged back scoring her third goal of the game and put Medaille back in the lead.

The Maverick offense was unstoppable with more goals from Briggs and Katelynn Deveans (Clinton, NY, Clinton) with Geiser picking up two more assists. The Mavs led 8-2 going into the second quarter.

The Mavs showed no signs of slowing down with Anderson finding Emma Grimm (Watertown, N.Y., Watertown) in open space for her first goal of the game. Geiser linked up with Deveans and Briggs to put Medaille ahead 11-2 before the Chargers were able to respond with their first goal of the quarter. Anderson added the 12th goal for Medaille shortly before the half, and Tatiana Wright (Stratford, CT, Bunnell) came up with multiple big saves to keep the Mavs out front.

The Chargers scored back-to-back goals to start the third quarter. Deveans scored and the Chargers responded 15 seconds later. Natalia Wojcik (Staten Island, NY, Susan E. Wagner) assisted Briggs to put Medaille ahead 14-6 and Briggs added another shortly after. Shyanne Trinh (Dorchester, MA, Stoughton) and Hardick played well defensively forcing multiple turnovers.
