HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Medaille University field hockey team hit the road for a conference game against the Houghton Highlanders. Houghton defeated Medaille 10-1 and currently sit in second in the Empire 8 standings while the Mavs are in eighth place.
The Houghton offense wasted no time getting on the board with a goal less than two minutes into the first half. The Highlanders went on to score eight total goals before half. Goaltender
Kristyn Clare (Rochester, NY, East Irondequoit) made eight total saves after two quarters of play.
The Maverick defense tightened up in the second half only allowing two goals in the third quarter and zero in the fourth.
Cassandra Diodate (East Amherst, NY, Williamsville North) put a shot on target at the end of the third, and
Lindsey Johnson (Livonia, NY, Livonia) found the back of the net in the fourth for Medaille's lone goal of the game.
Johnson led the Mavs with one goal and Clare finished with ten total saves.
The Mavericks will close out their regular season at home against Hartwick College on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m.
