ERIE, PA – The Medaille men's volleyball team headed south on the I-90 for an AMCC tilt with Penn State Behrend on Wednesday night. Previously, the Mavericks took down St. Vincent College in straight sets last weekend and the same result would occur against the Lions (3-0).
In the first set tied at (14-14), the Mavs would rattle off three straight points to edge the Lions by three points. The Mavs would carry that momentum to the finish, ending the opening frame with a (25-20) victory, courtesy of a kill by
Malachi Jackson (Cheektowaga, NY, Cheektowaga).
The second set was very much the same, a closely fought ball-game. The Lions would take the lead late (19-16), but Medaille would battle back, going on a (5-1) run to close out the second set, (25-23).
Again the Mavs and Lions went down to the wire in the third set, this time with Behrend on the brink of defeat.
Chris Pauline Jr. (North Tonawanda, NY, North Tonawanda) would come away with a big

block to tie things up at (24-24). The two sides would trade points and find themselves tied once more at (25-25). However, an attack error by the Lions set up the final volley of the day. Jackson would again come away with the final point, securing the sweep over the Lions (27-25).
Pauline Jr. was outstanding for the Mavs, leading the blue and gold in kills with (16) while pitching in two service aces and two solo blocks. Jackson ended the night with a solid eight kills and a team-leading (11) digs. Setter
Jake Siwy (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca West) would end the night with (30) assists.
The Mavs are back in action on Saturday where they will kick off a three game home-stand, starting with Penn State Altoona.
