Michelle Peruzzini was a four-year starting pitcher who also made her mark at the plate. With the most appearances on the mound in Maverick history, Peruzzini was the true definition of a workhorse. In 2006, she broke the record of most appearances in a single season with 40. In the same season, she started 35 games, completed 34, and pitched a total of 248.1 innings. She leads all of these categories in single-season history.
Peruzzini was named to the AMCC All-Conference team three years in a row. In 2005 she was second team, and in 2006 and 2007, she was honorable mention. She is the all-time career leader in appearances (117), complete games (93), innings pitched (676.1), strikeouts (501), and wins with 48. At the plate, Peruzzini earned a career .257 batting average with a total of 66 hits. Out of the 66 hits, 10 of those were extra-base hits.
In career all-time rankings, Peruzzini is top ten in 12 categories. In single-season rankings, she is top ten in an impressive 33 categories. In addition to her impressive tenure on the softball team, Peruzzini was also a three-year member of the women’s volleyball team.
