Erik Saladin was a key member of the baseball team from 2002 - 2005. He was a tremendous contributor that saw a team go from (2-22) as a freshman, to a team that won (42) games over his next three season. Which included a (17-17) record his sophomore year, a season in which he had a career best (.459) batting average. This earned him NEAC Conference Player of the Year Honors.
At the time of his graduation in 2005, he owned almost every single career record. Saladin had a rare blend of speed and power and he still currently holds three major records: on base percentage (.484), runs scored (122) and stolen bases (80).
Saladin still holds three single-season records for on-base percentage (.527), stolen bases (32) and triples (5). He ranks in the top ten in fourteen other categories. He finished sixth in the country in stolen bases per game with (.94) in 2004, 18th in batting average in 2003 (.459) and 19th in triples per game in 2003 with (.16).
Saladin was a First Team All-Conference Selection in the NEAC his first three years before Medaille made the switch over to the AMCC. He was named to the New York All-Region Team as both a sophomore and a junior. He was also a three-year captain and voted the team MVP all four seasons at Medaille.
He is still very active in the Medaille community, regularly attending alumni events and participating in the annual Medaille Baseball Alumni game.
"To be considered one of the top athletes to compete at Medaille is such a humbling honor," Saladin said upon learning of his induction. "Medaille was the only school to take a chance on a small town kid and I will forever be grateful for my time there. None of this would be possible without the support of my family, past coaches, teammates and the beautiful game of baseball."
