Freshman Patrick Whelan started his 2021 campaign with multiple big-flys. The Maverick infielder left the yard three times in a conference double-header with Penn State Altoona, totaling five RBI, three runs and (13) total bases. He opened the season going (4-7) at the plate, hitting (.571), leading the Mavs offensively.
